About a third of the 130 restoration companies I work with are franchise owners.  I’ve heard countless stories of how the franchise model has been a great way for them to get in the industry and build a successful restoration business. 


I’ve also worked with franchise owners who have shared challenges they have working under a corporate umbrella and some even shared some
“BUYER’S REMORSE”.


There is a lot that goes into deciding if

2) Training and Support: Franchisors provide training, support, and guidance, minimizing the learning curve.


3) Faster Start: With an existing model, you can hit the ground running and achieve profitability sooner.


4) Economies of Scale: Access to shared resources, marketing campaigns, and bulk purchasing can lower costs.


5) Reduced Risk: Franchise models come with a proven track record, reducing some of the uncertainties associated with startups.


Some concerns when buying into a franchise


1) Initial Investment: Purchasing a franchise involves upfront costs, including franchise fees and initial setup expenses.


2) Limited Flexibility: Franchisees must adhere to established brand guidelines and operational standards.


3) Royalty Fees: Ongoing royalties reduce your earnings compared to a solely owned business.


4) Dependence on Franchisor: Your success is partially tied to the overall health and decisions of the franchise.


5) Less Creative Control: You may have limited input on branding and major business decisions.


Ultimately, the decision between starting from scratch and buying an existing franchise hinges on your risk tolerance, resources, and growth goals.
